Dr. Amaka Kate Uzu has gained over 12 years of medical experience in Scotland, United Kingdom. She finished her MBBS at Abia State University, Nigeria in 2003 and completed her Family Medicine training in Scotland. She holds a scholarship diploma in Diabetes, family planning and reproductive health from Grampian Primary Care – Scotland, UK.
In 2003, she started her clinical practice in several medical facilities in Nigeria. In 2007, she moved to the UK and continued her specialty training programs in Northeast Scotland.
Prior to joining Bareen International Hospital, Dr. Amaka worked as a Consultant Family Physician in one of the leading primary healthcare centers for NHS Grampian, Scotland UK.
She is a board-certified member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, London UK and Diplomate member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, London UK.
Dr. Amaka has a broad range of medical experience in diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute illnesses and chronic diseases such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, asthma, COPD, raised cholesterol and thyroid. She has intensive experience in wellness health check for men and women, child health, teen health, and contraception - including insertion and removal of sub dermal contraceptive implant. In addition, her areas of interest include mental health focused on mood swings, anxiety, and depressive disorders, vitamin deficiencies, and common skin conditions. Dr. Amaka is passionate about community awareness, education, and promotion of overall health and well-being.
