KAWASAKI Case Treated at Bareen International Hospital by Dr. Aysha Mahmoud

The Pediatrics Department at Bareen International Hospital, managed by Fakih Medical Center, successfully diagnosed and treated 5 year old girl, Naya, with Kawasaki Disease on Thursday 18 February, 2016. 

Dr Aysha Mahmoud, Specialist Pediatrics, and the ER team at Bareen International Hospital were able to diagnose the disease and treat it in no time, the parents of Naya were very happy and relieved to finally know the problem after having taken Naya to some of the major hospitals in Abu Dhabi with no clear diagnosis or treatment. 

Kawasaki Disease is a very rare condition that mainly affects children under the age of five.The symptoms include a high fever that lasts over 5 days, skin rash, swollen glands in the neck, dry/cracked lips, red eyes and red fingers or toes - the symptoms could be mistaken for viral infection. 

Kawasaki disease cannot be prevented but if it is diagnosed and treated promptly, most children will make a full recovery within six to eight weeks.
